I love that feeling when you wake up on a cloudy morning, it's raining, maybe even snowing outside, and you feel like staying in bed all day. And this is exactly what you do. After all the work you've done, after all the discussions you've had, after all the problems that have been on your mind lately, this is just what you deserve. So you decide to ignore the rules of life for a while and let the world drown in chaos.
And instead of participating in life, you marry your bed.
When I was a child, I used to think that my bed was a safe island of hope and coziness, while the floor was full of sharks and alligators and other things that could harm me. I would jump from my bed to my armchair to my desk if I wanted to go to the toilet, anything just to make sure I won't touch the floor. You see the point: you don't need any reasons to stay in bed all day. You just do it.
So you get snuggled up under several blankets that keep you warm and create your own temporary world: you bunker books, music, magazines, food, tea, as if the world was going to end tomorrow and you wanted to have one last day to yourself. You switch your mobile off, you don't even think about responding to your e-mails, and allow yourself to be completely isolated for one day. Or the weekend. Or the whole winter if you can afford it. And you feel so happy and safe in your warm bed, far away from all the things that caused you trouble, that you don't even realize how fragile and vulnerable you are. But for once, you are allowed to let your guard down.
Because today is the day that you are going to marry your bed.
And the fact that the world keeps turning seems unreal, because you feel like it actually stopped. And maybe it did for you. But your time in this oasis of shelter is limited, so you should enjoy every single second of it. And as chills run down your spine as you come back from the kitchen and jump straight into your bed, exhausted from the long trip to the fridge, yet happy that you're back in your natural environment, you can feel your body regenerate. You can feel how all the warmth and safeness is doing you good and you can finally be yourself again.
It's like you're taking a vacation from life.
You leave everything behind for a few hours and start a new life.
And marry your bed.
